Parish cemetery from 1891 in Dąbrowa Górnicza, the resting place of people who served the city.
The cemetery of the parish of St Barbara in Dąbrowa Górnicza was founded in 1891. The land was handed over by the authorities of the Western Mining District in 1887, and the first dead were buried in the second half of 1891.
In 1914 the cemetery became full and was closed to new burials. The parish of St Barbara took over its administration in 1957. In the early 1970s the cemetery chapel of St Barbara was built, and it was extended in 1985, when tidying work began. In 1990 burials resumed in places where graves had been levelled, and the renovation was completed in 2005.
Those buried here include Adam Piwowar, the first president of the city, Leopold Piwowar of the basilica building committee, the architect Julian Polcer, the mining historian Kornel Kozłowski and January Uprising insurgents. Nearby stands the Basilica of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the Angels.
