A manor house from 1928 built by Antoni Schütz, rebuilt after a fire in 1991, today home to a special school.
The manor house in Bogumiłek in Częstochowa County was built in 1928 by Antoni Schütz, owner of an estate from a family associated with nearby Biała Wielka. Today it houses a special school.
The builder's grandfather, Adolf Ludwik Schütz, bought the Biała Wielka estate in 1852 and ran a model farm there. After 1945 the estate was nationalised under the land reform; it was, among other things, a farm supplying the steelworks in Częstochowa, and later part of the state farms. In 1969 a youth correctional institution with a vocational school was opened in the manor house. The manor burned down on 21 June 1991 and was rebuilt within two years. The manor complex was entered in the heritage register in 1991.
The manor house is a modest two-storey building on a rectangular plan, covered with a hip roof; the projections are topped with semicircular gables. Nearby stand farm buildings, including a former grain store, and a historic water mill. The park, covering 3.14 ha, is overgrown mainly with pines, hornbeams, horse chestnuts, spruces and ash trees.
A little over a kilometre away stands the Palace in Biała Wielka; the Biała Wielka estate was bought in 1852 by the grandfather of the builder of the manor in Bogumiłek.
