About Lutheran Chapel in Świętoszówka

A Lutheran chapel in Świętoszówka, consecrated in 1956, which still serves the local Lutheran community.

The Lutheran chapel in Świętoszówka is a small Lutheran place of worship, built in the mid-1950s for the local Evangelical-Augsburg community. It stands in Świętoszówka in Bielsko County, in the area of the Silesian Beskids.

History of the building

The building site was consecrated on 11 September 1955, and the foundation stone was laid a month later. The chapel was completed quickly: Bishop Karol Kotula consecrated it on 23 September 1956. The furnishings were added in the following years. In 1958 the table was replaced by an altar with a painting of the Crucifixion, donated by Pastor Martin Niemöller of Darmstadt, a year later pews appeared, and in 1962 a bell brought from the church in Jasienica was hung.

Today

The chapel still serves the community: services, Sunday school classes and funerals are held there. The roof was replaced in 1964, the facade was renovated in 1966 and 1978, and the interior was refurbished in 1973 and 1991. In the area you can go on to Grodziec Castle, about 2 km away.
