Reformed Franciscan monastery founded in 1740 by Maria Józefa Sobieska, with a venerated copy of the icon of Our Lady of the Snows.
The Franciscan monastery in Pilica is a foundation of the Reformed Franciscan order, established in the first half of the 18th century and still associated with the cult of the image of Our Lady of the Snows.
The monastery was founded in 1740 and officially began operating in 1745. The land for the construction was donated by Maria Józefa Sobieska, née Wessel.
The same founder gave the order a 16th-century copy of the icon of Our Lady of the Snows. The image is still the object of great devotion. The monastery stands not far from Pilica Castle, about 600 m away.
