A church from 1927-1930 in Chybie, a sanctuary of Our Lady of Gołysz since 1999.
The Church of Christ the King in Chybie, in Cieszyn County, was built in 1927-1930. Since 1999 it has also been the sanctuary of Our Lady of Gołysz.
Before it was built, the residents of Chybie belonged to the parish of St Barbara in Strumień. The church stands on waterlogged ground left after a former pond was filled in. The design was prepared by Henryk Szołdra, the interior decoration was made by the painter Jan Wałach of Istebna, and the church was blessed on 5 October 1930 by Monsignor Wilhelm Kasperlik. The independent parish was established in 1957.
The painting of Our Lady of Częstochowa, known as the Gołysz one, originally hung on a lime tree in Gołysz, and from 1768 in a wooden chapel. When in 1953 the demolition of the chapel was planned in connection with the building of the reservoir known today as the Goczałkowice Reservoir, the painting was moved to the church in Zarzecze, and in 1954 to Chybie, where many displaced residents had come. The sanctuary was established on 21 November 1999, and the painting was crowned in 2004.
