An Evangelical-Augsburg church from 1991-1995 in Salmopol, where a congregation has existed since 1803.
The Evangelical church in Szczyrk-Salmopol is an Evangelical-Augsburg church belonging to the parish in Biała. The present building was erected in 1991-1995 to a design by the engineer Karol Gaś, but the congregation here is much older.
The first Evangelical families came to Salmopol in 1803 from Wisła, where they had found work with the landowners of Łodygowice. For Polish services they travelled to Wisła, less often to Biała, where services were held in German. From 1897 pastoral care was taken over by pastors from Biała.
In 1897 Superintendent Hermann Fritsche organised a collection and a school was built, blessed on 17 October that year. Services were also held in the building. It housed the teacher's flat and a tourist station of the Beskidenverein. After Fr Bruno Porwal took over the parish in 1924, services were held once a month. In 1942-1946 they were interrupted, and resumed after the building was renovated.
The former school building now houses the parish guest rooms. In the new church services are held every Sunday and on holidays. In the area lies the Salmopol Pass, and about 1 km further the Biały Krzyż Ski Complex.
