About Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Gliwice

A parish church on ulica Franciszkańska in Gliwice, consecrated in 2009, with an organ from Düsseldorf.

The Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is a parish church on ulica Franciszkańska in Gliwice. It was consecrated on 21 June 2009.

Consecration on the order's 800th anniversary

The consecration ceremony was led by Gerard Kusz, auxiliary bishop of the Gliwice diocese. It was also attended by Stanisław Dowlaszewicz, a Franciscan and auxiliary bishop of the Diocese of Santa Cruz de la Sierra in Bolivia. The event was part of the celebrations of the 800th anniversary of the Order of Friars Minor.

Organ and bells

The most interesting item of the furnishings is the organ on the right side of the music choir. It was brought in 2008 from the Church of St Conrad in Düsseldorf-Flingern Nord, and in its new home it was assembled by an organ builder from Zabrze. The previous instrument, by the firm Landau, which still served in the old church, went to the Church of St Michael the Archangel in Bytom-Sucha Góra.

Three bells hang in the bell tower by the church. The smallest was cast in 1995 in Taciszów, the two larger ones in 1967 in Karlsruhe.
