A church set up in 1951 in a former children's sanatorium from 1891, known as Maria's Institute.
The Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Jastrzębie-Zdrój is housed in a former children's sanatorium building, known as Maria's Institute (Zakład Marii). It is one of the oldest buildings of the former spa.
The building was erected in 1891 as a sanatorium for Catholic children. The Borromean Sisters soon arrived and turned it into the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary with a chapel. A few years later two wings were added, and the shape of the building has survived to this day. After the Second World War the premises were taken over by the Polish Red Cross administration.
Thanks to the determination of residents and spa guests, a church was set up in the old Maria's Institute and consecrated on 10 June 1951. The newer part of the building was given to the parish as a presbytery.
