About Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Częstochowa

A post-war parish church in Częstochówka-Parkitka, where the beatification process of Sister Aniela Róża Godecka took place.

The Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross is a Roman Catholic parish church in the Częstochówka-Parkitka district of Częstochowa. It belongs to the Częstochowa - Exaltation of the Holy Cross deanery of the Archdiocese of Częstochowa. It is a post-war church connected with the beatification process of Sister Aniela Róża Godecka.

Construction in 1949-1956

The church was built in 1949-1956 thanks to the efforts of Father Antoni Mietliński. It was blessed by Bishop Zdzisław Goliński on 31 January 1954, and the solemn consecration was performed by Archbishop Stanisław Nowak on 14 September 1998.

The interior was furnished gradually by successive parish priests. In 1989 the church received a copper roof, because the earlier covering had been destroyed by gales. Later cloisters were added and the foundations secured.

The beatification process of Sister Godecka

The beatification process of Sister Aniela Róża Godecka began in this church on 19 September 1994. Her mortal remains were moved on 26 March 1998 to a specially prepared chapel. It is less than a kilometre in a straight line from here to the sanctuary at Jasna Góra.
