Neo-Gothic parish church in Brzezinka in Gliwice, built in 1891-1899, successor to a wooden church of 1551.
The Church of St Hedwig is a neo-Gothic parish church on the Brzezinka estate in Gliwice, in the Gliwice-Łabędy deanery of the Diocese of Gliwice.
The first, wooden church in Brzezinka was founded in 1551 and pulled down at the end of the 19th century. The present brick church was built on the initiative of the parish priest, Fr Henryk Treger, who blessed the chancel and the first part of the nave on 18 October 1891. The tower and the second part of the nave were completed in 1899. The church was solemnly consecrated by the Wrocław auxiliary bishop Karl Augustin on 27 May 1911.
During restoration in 1962, the tombs of the Zmeskal family, former owners of Brzezinka, were discovered, along with the gravestone of Zuzanna Zmeskal from 1648 with an inscription in Polish. The slab is now in the Museum in Gliwice. The most recent thorough renovation lasted from 2000 to 2010. The present organ was built in 1976 by Zdzisław Zasada of Mikołów, and in 2010 it was renovated by Maciej Tomaszewski of Gliwice.
