A brick-and-timber filial church from 1957-1959, built after a fire destroyed a wooden church from 1506.
St Wenceslas's Church in Pniów is a filial Roman Catholic church in a village in the municipality of Toszek, built after a fire destroyed its wooden predecessor. It stands on Wiejska Street.
The first church in Pniów was a wooden building put up in 1506 in log-and-post construction. In time it was extended: the chancel was added in 1598, the sacristy in 1599 and a brick chapel in 1680. A fire in 1921 was brought under control, but on 13 February 1956 the church burned down.
The new church, of brick and timber, was built in 1957-1959 to a design by the architect Vogel. Bishop Wacław Wycisk consecrated it on 19 October 1975. Granite was used for the high altar, and relics of Saints Aurelia, Timothy and Wenceslas were placed in the sacrificial altar.
The church belongs to the parish of All Saints in Sierot, in the Toszek deanery of the Gliwice diocese.
About 3.5 km away stands the Church of St Martin in Paczyna, and in Toszek, about 7 km away, Toszek Castle.
