About Church of the Holy Trinity in Ruda Śląska

A neo-Romanesque and neo-Gothic parish church from 1900-1902 in the Kochłowice district, entered in the heritage register.

The Church of the Holy Trinity stands in Kochłowice, one of the districts of Ruda Śląska, on Tunkla Street. It is a parish church from the early 20th century, built in a style combining neo-Romanesque and neo-Gothic features. It is entered in the heritage register.

Construction in 1900-1902

The church was built in 1900-1902 as a three-nave building on a Latin cross plan. The design was prepared by Ludwig Schneider of Wrocław, and the work was led by the master mason Fedor Wieczorek of Królewska Huta. Permission to begin construction was given by the church board in November 1899, building started in April 1900, and the foundation stone was laid in July of the same year.

In August 1901 a painting of Our Lady of Częstochowa, painted by Franciszek Jędrzejczyk, was brought into the church. The church was consecrated in October 1902 by Cardinal Georg Kopp.

What it looks like

The church is of brick and has a Latin cross plan, with three naves. The heritage register dates it to the end of the 19th century. The painting of Our Lady of Częstochowa, brought into the church while it was still under construction, remains one of its oldest furnishings.
