A brick Evangelical-Augsburg church from 1780, rebuilt in 1900 in the Neo-Romanesque style, by the Market Square in Tarnowskie Góry.
The Church of the Saviour is a church of the Evangelical-Augsburg parish, located right by the Market Square in Tarnowskie Góry. The brick, Neo-Romanesque building with one tower and a turret for the sanctus bell was built in 1780 and is entered in the heritage register.
The church was built on the site of one of the townhouses donated to the town by a wealthy resident. The builders were the architect Christoph Worbs of Strzelce and the carpenter Jan Karol Henning of Opole. The tower was raised in 1842, and in 1900 the whole church was rebuilt in the Neo-Romanesque style to a design by Adolf Seiffhart.
The interior is single-nave and surrounded by galleries, typical of Protestant churches. The centre is occupied by the altar with a pulpit above it, and on the left stands a free-standing font.
On the outer wall a plaque is set commemorating the baptism of Carl Wernicke, a pathologist, psychiatrist and neurologist, who was baptised in this church.
The church lies in the very centre of the town, beside Plac Gwarków. A few steps further is the museum, and nearby stands the former synagogue.
