A bronze bench sculpture from 2014 showing the Ruch Chorzów footballer just before a shot.
The Gerard Cieślik Bench is a bronze monument to the legendary Ruch Chorzów footballer, standing in the town centre on Wolności Street, in front of the main post office building. It was unveiled on 18 December 2014.
The sculpture is by Tomasz Wenklar. Cieślik is shown in sports kit, just before kicking the ball. The figure is 1.8 m high, and the bench is 2.1 m long and 0.7 m wide. The monument recalls the Poland - USSR match of 20 October 1957 at the Silesian Stadium, a World Cup qualifier in which Cieślik scored two goals. The footballer's wife and son took part in the unveiling. In 2016 a plaque was added with the inscription “Gerard Cieślik, legendary Ruch Chorzów footballer”.
