A museum of the history of Upper Silesia and Siemianowice in an 18th-century granary, with three collection departments.
The Municipal Museum in Siemianowice Śląskie occupies an 18th-century granary in the palace and park complex. It deals with the history of Upper Silesia and of the town itself.
Its beginnings go back to 1966, when the Society of Friends of Siemianowice Śląskie began to collect documents and objects connected with the history of the region. The society also looked after places of remembrance and monuments relating to the Silesian Uprisings and the Second World War. In 1974 a Municipal Tradition Room was opened in the former granary, which had earlier served as a farm building of a state farm. The institution received museum status on 17 October 1991.
The collections are divided into three departments. The history department gathers souvenirs connected with the history of the town and the region, the ethnography department deals with traditional, industrial and agricultural culture, and the art department shows the work of contemporary artists. The museum organises permanent and temporary exhibitions and academic and educational meetings.
