About Regional Museum in Bestwina

The Regional Museum in Bestwina, open since 1993, presents old carriages, farm tools, a weaving loom and sacred art.

The Regional Museum in Bestwina is a municipal institution that since 1993 has collected relics of local history and ethnography. It was created on the initiative of the Society of Friends of the Bestwina Land, founded in 1992, and by a decision of the Municipal Council, in place of a former memorial room. It is housed in a former school building and comes under the municipal cultural centre.

What to see

The collections include historical and ethnographic materials and keepsakes connected with notable figures of the region. A traditional weaving loom, sacred art and old means of transport are on show. In the coach house stand carriages, including travelling coaches and light carriages known as szrombki, and a separate room shows farm tools and work with horses. Thematic exhibitions are also organised, for example on farm animals.

Next to the museum

On site there is the “Na Prowincji” gallery with visual arts exhibitions, and a regional library. Nearby, less than a kilometre away, stands the Tomb of Stanisław and Jadwiga Myszkowski in Bestwina.
