Brick palace from the early 20th century in Ornontowice, designed by the Berlin architect Hugo Hartung.
The Hegenscheidt Palace stands on ulica Zamkowa in Ornontowice, in Mikołów County. It is a brick, two-storey building from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, listed in the heritage register.
Construction began in the late 19th century and was completed in 1901. The design was prepared by the Berlin architect Hugo Hartung. The Hegenscheidt family bought Ornontowice together with the manor farms in Dębieńsko Stare and Dębieńsko Wielkie, and the palace was their seat until the Second World War. After the war it housed an agricultural school with a boarding house. Since 2005 the building has belonged to a private owner.
The building represents Northern Renaissance Revival with elements of eclecticism. It stands on a high plinth and has a multi-pitched roof with ceramic tiles, arcaded porticoes, stepped cornices and a semicircular portal. Original stoves and wood panelling have survived inside. The palace is surrounded by a landscape park. A few kilometres away stands the castle in Chudów.
