Complex of historic buildings of the former spa from the 1860s on the Zdrój estate in Jastrzębie-Zdrój.
The spa complex in Jastrzębie-Zdrój consists of historic buildings of the former spa on the Zdrój estate, entered in the heritage register in 1993. The oldest buildings date from the 1860s. Spa activity in the town ended in 1994, and the buildings were given new functions.
In 1861-1862 a pump room and the Spa House (Dom Zdrojowy) were built, put up by Felix von Königsdorff in the Swiss style. The Spa House, today with a restaurant and a theatre hall, is described on a separate card: Spa House in Jastrzębie-Zdrój. Guesthouses, hotels and clinics grew up around it, among them the Königsdorff Hotel, the Hohenzollern Hotel and Karol's Villa.
Jastrzębie was famous for its children's sanatoria. They included the Jewish Institution for Children from 1890, Marienheim from 1891, run by the Borromean Sisters (a parish church since 1951), and Betania, a clinic for Lutheran children. The Josefsheim convent of the Borromean Sisters still operates today.
The Miners' Fraternity Company sanatorium from 1911 has housed the Town History Gallery since 2023. The Masnówka Villa from 1912 houses a library branch with a café and a gallery. Numerous villas date from the 1920s and 1930s, and the steelworks sanatorium from 1938 was kept in the Bauhaus style. In 1928 a bandstand was built, where concerts are still held today. Some buildings, such as the Officers' Summer Retreat, burnt down or were demolished, and some stand undeveloped.
