Bench of Stanisław Ligoń in Katowice

The Bench of Stanisław Ligoń stands in Katowice at Juliusza Ligonia 29, in front of the building that has housed the Katowice station of Polish Radio since August 1937. It was unveiled on 19 October 2012 during the celebrations of the station's 75th anniversary.

Whom it shows

The figure seated on a garden bench is Stanisław Ligoń (1879-1954), writer, painter, illustrator, cultural activist, director and actor. From January 1934 he headed the Katowice station of Polish Radio.

Author

The bronze sculpture was made by Professor Marian Molenda, a sculptor from Nysa.
