About Carbonarium

An exhibition on the history of coal in the historic Moszczenica Bathhouse in Jastrzębie-Zdrój, with guided tours.

Carbonarium is an exhibition on the history of coal in the Moszczenica Bathhouse (Łaźnia Moszczenica) in Jastrzębie-Zdrój, on ulica Towarowa. The bathhouse building was adapted for cultural and educational use by the Institute of Heritage and Dialogue (Instytut Dziedzictwa i Dialogu), and the exhibition has the subtitle "The Extraordinary History of Coal". It is a place for those who want to understand what mining meant for a town that grew up around its collieries.

What to see in Carbonarium

The exhibition tells the story of the coal mining heritage and is open to individual visitors and to guided tours. The organiser also runs an educational programme for groups, so a visit suits a school trip or a family outing on a rainy day. You will find the detailed programme of the exhibition and the visiting rules on the Łaźnia Moszczenica website.

Mining surroundings

From Carbonarium it is close to places that show Jastrzębie from another side: about a kilometre away is the Spa Park in Jastrzębie-Zdrój. The mining background of the town also includes the Jas-Mos coal mine, one of the mines of Jastrzębie-Zdrój.
