A disused cemetery from 1856, where mainly the German population was buried, now neglected and damaged.
The Catholic cemetery on Kozielska Street in Racibórz was established in 1856. Mainly the German population was buried there. Today it is disused, and burials ended in the 1960s. It is a forgotten necropolis with old gravestones, many of them damaged.
The oldest trace is a cross from 1855, put up by Fr Karol Popeck and renovated in 1935 by Fr Karol Ulitzka. Gravestones from the 1940s and 1950s predominate in the cemetery, and some date from the late 19th century.
The cemetery is abandoned and uncared for. Most of the gravestones were destroyed by vandals, and many slabs lie overturned. The necropolis is listed in the city's register of monuments. Photographs from its grounds show overgrown graves, crosses and gravestones altered by time.
