A brick rotunda with a shingle roof in the forest between Giszowiec and Ochojec, entered in the municipal register of historic monuments.
The Chapel of St Hubert stands in a forest in the Katowice district of Piotrowice-Ochojec, between Giszowiec and Ochojec, on 73 Pułku Piechoty street. It lies within the “Źródła Kłodnicy” nature and landscape complex.
The sources give two versions. According to the first, the chapel was probably built in 1906 on the commission of the Prince of Pszczyna, who held hunts in the local forests. According to the second, it was built in 1936 funded by members of the Silesian Riding Club. It was blessed in November 1936 by Fr Ludwik Bombas. In 1994 the building underwent conservation.
It is a brick, plastered rotunda with thick walls, two round windows with grilles and a massive plinth around it. The roof is covered with shingles, and on it stands a wooden bell turret with a metal cross. Inside is an altar with figures of saints and a painting of St Hubert. Originally the chapel stood in a clearing, which in time became overgrown. Today it is surrounded by a wooden fence with benches. The chapel is entered in the municipal register of historic monuments of Katowice.
It is looked after by the Brynów parish of the Most Holy Names of Jesus and Mary. Every year Masses are celebrated here on the feasts of St Maximilian Maria Kolbe (14 August) and St Hubert (3 November). Not far away is the Katowice Forest Park.
