A post-war parish church in Brzęczkowice, Mysłowice, consecrated in 1949, with a mosaic on the vault and sculptures by Henryk Burc.
The Church of Our Lady of Sorrows is a parish church in the Brzęczkowice and Słupna district of Mysłowice, on the Brzęczkowice estate. It belongs to the Mysłowice deanery of the Archdiocese of Katowice.
Construction began on 1 August 1945 on a site on the border between Brzęczkowice and Słupna, so that the church would unite the residents of both sides. It was consecrated on 10 April 1949. The dedication was linked, among other things, to the years of efforts to build a church.
The design was made by Henryk Gambca, and the interior decoration is the work of the sculptor Henryk Burc. The builder and parish priest from 1939 to 1969 was Father Franciszek Maroń, a historian of the Church in Upper Silesia; a plaque dedicated to him hangs in the church.
The church has a single nave, decorated with two arcades, with a centrally raised chancel. The nave is covered by a barrel vault with a mosaic laid out in the shape of the firmament. At the far end of the nave stand two large figures: Christ Crucified and Our Lady of Sorrows beneath the cross.
