A modern church from 1974-1980 in Zawiercie, with stained glass by Prof. Wincenty Kućma and a 51-metre bell tower.
The Church of Our Lady, Queen of Poland stands on ulica Paderewskiego in Zawiercie. It is a modern parish church, built over six years from the mid-1970s, with a tall bell tower added later.
The parish was established on 7 May 1957. The building permit for the church was issued on 16 February 1974, and work lasted from 1974 to 1980. The shell was built by the first parish priest, Father Stanisław Woźny, and the finishing and repairs were carried out from 1982 by Father Zygmunt Sroka. The consecration took place on 14 May 2000.
Inside, attention is drawn to the bronze and copper furnishings: an altar with a scene of the Last Supper, a pulpit with reliefs of the Evangelists and a font. The stained glass from 2002-2004 was made by Professor Wincenty Kućma, and its subjects include Christ the Redeemer and the Baptism of Christ. The church also has an organ. The bell tower, 51.5 metres high, was built in 2011.
Right next to it lies the Roman Catholic cemetery, and in the town you can also see the brine graduation tower.
