A Neo-Gothic brick church in the Kamień district of Piekary Śląskie, built in 1898-1899 to a design by Ludwig Schneider.
The Church of Saints Peter and Paul in the Kamień district is a Neo-Gothic red-brick church built in 1898-1899. It belongs to a parish in the Piekary Śląskie deanery of the Archdiocese of Katowice and stands on Biskupa Nankera Street.
The architect was Ludwig Schneider, and the church was consecrated in 1899. It is oriented, a three-nave hall church on the plan of a Latin cross with a single-nave transept. A tall tower with clocks on two sides rises in the west, and a small ridge turret stands where the nave crosses the transept. The side aisles have cross-rib vaults, and the main nave has a star vault.
A fresco of six saints is painted in the central part of the vault. The Neo-Gothic high altar is decorated with a painting, “The Handing of the Keys to St Peter”, and beside it stand figures of the patrons, the apostles Peter and Paul.
Close by are the basilica in Piekary Śląskie and the Piekary Calvary.
