A brick church in Krywałd (Knurów), built in 1908 as the chapel of a factory gunpowder works.
The Church of St Anthony of Padua stands in Krywałd, a district of Knurów, on Michalskiego Street. It was built in 1908 as the chapel of a factory gunpowder works.
The brick building was originally a chapel at the gunpowder factory. After the tragic explosions of 1920-1921 regular services began to be held in it, from 1921 under the care of Fr Paweł Staffa. In 1930 a high altar by Paul Keiser was installed, and in 1936 a sacristy was added. The chancel was rebuilt in 1968-1969 in line with the guidelines of the Second Vatican Council. The parish was established on 6 March 1981.
The church has one nave and three altars. Next to it stands the Chapel of St Barbara in Krywałd.
