Modern church from 2002-2007 in Częstochowa-Kawodrza, with polychrome painting and a clinker brick facade.
The Church of St John Sarkander is a modern parish church in the Gnaszyn-Kawodrza district of Częstochowa, in the part called Kawodrza Dolna. It was built in 2002-2007.
The designer was the engineer Ziemowit Domagała. The temporary chapel and the building site were blessed on 19 October 1997 by Archbishop Stanisław Nowak. The first Mass was held on 30 May 2004, and the church was consecrated on 1 May 2007. The clinker brick facade was completed in 2011.
It is a single-nave church. The polychrome painting shows Merciful Jesus in the centre, St John Sarkander on the right and St John Paul II on the left. On the side walls are the Stations of the Cross drawn with a sharp, dynamic line.
It is about 2.2 km from here to Jasna Góra, and the Valley of Mercy lies nearby.
