A Neo-Baroque parish church in Goleszów from 1913-1921, with relics of the furnishings of the former Gothic church.
The Church of St Michael the Archangel stands in Goleszów in Cieszyn Silesia, at ulica Wolności 8. It is a parish church with a Neo-Baroque form from 1913-1921.
As early as 1293 two settlers were said to have built a Gothic brick church with a wooden tower in Goleszów. In 1447 it was mentioned as a parish church. The present building was constructed in 1913-1921 to plans by the Cieszyn builder Max Wrana, and was consecrated in 1935. The old church was demolished in 1921, and its architectural fragments went to the Museum of Cieszyn Silesia.
Inside are stained-glass windows and relics of the old church: a painting of Our Lady of the Rosary, a painting of St John of Nepomuk from 1877 and several Baroque sculptures. Under the choir stands a stone font, probably from the 13th century. The altar holds a painting of St Michael the Archangel. The historic presbytery dates from the 18th century. The windows for the church in Goleszów were designed by Jan Wałach, an artist from Istebna.
