Baroque rectorial church in Częstochowa from 1680, rebuilt in 1783-1785, with Rococo altar decoration.
The Church of St Roch and St Sebastian on ulica św. Rocha in Częstochowa is a single-nave Baroque church, listed in the heritage register. The present building dates from 1680, after the first brick chapel was destroyed during the Swedish siege of 1655.
The first brick chapel was built in 1641-1642, funded by Fr Andrzej Goldonowski, Pauline provincial. The present church was renovated in 1739, and in 1771 it was plundered by the Bar Confederates. Its present appearance dates from 1783-1785, when the church was rebuilt and two towers were put up in place of one. The last renovation took place in 1987-1992.
The Baroque high altar from the end of the 17th century has Rococo ornamentation from 1785. The sculptures, paintings and liturgical vessels date from the 17th and 18th centuries, some from the 19th. The church has an organ from 1869, built by the Częstochowa organ builder Józef Szymański. The church lies less than a kilometre and a half from Jasna Góra.
