About Church of St Thérèse of the Child Jesus in Zabrze

Modernist brick church in Zabrze-Mikulczyce from 1932-1933, designed by Theodor Ehl of Bytom.

The Church of St Thérèse of the Child Jesus stands in the Mikulczyce district of Zabrze, on ulica św. Teresy. It is a modernist brick church with a single tower with a clock, built in 1932-1933.

Architecture

The designer was Theodor Ehl of Bytom, and the style represents the Neues Bauen movement. The façade is marked by round porthole windows and triangular window crowns. Inside there are three naves and three altars. The foundation stone was laid on 21 May 1933, and the consecration took place on 17 September 1933.

Later history

A thorough renovation was carried out in 1976, and another, comprehensive one in 2002-2005, ending with the consecration of a new altar on 2 October 2005. The organ has 36 stops and was built in 1979-1982 by Bronisław Cepka. The church belongs to the parish of St Thérèse of the Child Jesus in Zabrze-Mikulczyce, in the Diocese of Gliwice.
