A church from 1945 adapted from a brickworks on Załęska Hałda, used by a Roman Catholic and a Greek Catholic parish.
The Church of Sts Cyril and Methodius stands on F. Bocheńskiego Street in the Załęska Hałda-Brynów district of Katowice. It is a Roman Catholic and Greek Catholic church at the same time. The present building came about after the Second World War through the adaptation of a brickworks.
Until 1936 the residents of Załęska Hałda went to the church in Załęże. From that year priests from the parish in Załęże came to a rented hall, known as Gintrówka, for Sunday services. The present church was adapted from the brickworks building, and it was blessed on 11 September 1945 by Bishop Stanisław Adamski. The church was extended in 1956-1984. The paintings of the patron saints were painted by Józef Kołodziejczyk (1930-1997).
The church is the parish church of the Roman Catholic parish of Sts Cyril and Methodius and the Greek Catholic church of the parish of the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God. The Archdiocese of Katowice lent it to the Greek Catholics for ten years, with the possibility of extension, while keeping Roman Catholic Masses in it.
