Brick church from 1859-1861 near Sieraków Śląski, built to replace a wooden church from the 17th century.
The Church of Sts Peter and Paul the Apostles stands about two kilometres east of the centre of Sieraków Śląski, in Lubliniec County. It is a church from the mid-19th century that replaced an older wooden church.
The first, wooden church was probably built in the mid-17th century, and its oldest description dates from 1679. A wooden belfry stood next to it. Over time the building fell into ruin and in 1855 it was closed by the police. Instead of costly renovation, it was decided to build a new church.
Work began in 1859, and the church was consecrated in 1861. The interior has three altars: the high altar dedicated to the patron saints and two side altars, with paintings of St Joseph and the Blessed Virgin Mary. The organ was ordered from an organ builder in Głubczyce and consecrated in September 1864. The church was renovated in 1996, with the roof covering and the façade replaced, among other work.
Nearby lies the Palace in Patoka, and a little further away the Cisy koło Sierakowa nature reserve.
