A church from 1505 in the centre of Lubliniec, founded by Duke John of Opole, today a parish church.
The Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross stands in the centre of Lubliniec and is one of the oldest churches in the town. It was built in 1505 and today serves as a parish church.
The church was founded by John, Duke of Opole. In 1661 a hospital with the same dedication was founded next to it, and in 1842 the building was thoroughly renovated.
In 1929 the church was rebuilt and designated as a garrison church. In 1962 a rectorate was established at it, and on 21 October 1990, by decree of the Bishop of Katowice, the parish of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross was established.
One bell hangs in the tower, cast in 1998 at the Felczyński bell foundry in Taciszów. It weighs about 100 kilograms and is named, among others, after Teresa Benedicta of the Cross, that is Edith Stein, to whom the Edith Stein Museum in Lubliniec is dedicated.
The organ is about 150 years old. It was renovated at the turn of 1995 and 1996 by the firm of Henryk Hober of Olesno, and in 2016 the same firm built a new instrument, keeping the original case. A community of Friars Minor (OFM) is based at the church.
A few hundred metres from the church stands Lubliniec Castle.
