A Neo-Baroque parish church from 1925-1927 in the Ostropa district of Gliwice, with a Rieger organ from 1927.
The Church of the Holy Spirit is a Neo-Baroque parish church in the Ostropa district of Gliwice, belonging to the Gliwice-Ostropa deanery of the Gliwice diocese. It was built in the 1920s to a design by architects from Wrocław.
The design was prepared by the Wrocław architects Johannes Gebl and Theodor Pluschke, and construction began in 1925. The works were managed by Johann Rygol of Gliwice, and the builder was the parish priest Leopold Maruszczyk. The church was blessed on 25 September 1927 by Cardinal Adolf Bertram. Altars and liturgical equipment from the old Church of St George were used for the first furnishings.
The interior is adorned by a figure of Our Lady of Fatima, one of the first in Upper Silesia to be brought from Fatima, donated by Edith Deppe of the United States in thanks for a miracle. In 2012 a post-conciliar altar and a pulpit designed by Piotr Kłosek of Szczyrk were blessed. On the gallery above the entrance stands a 37-stop organ by Gebrüder Rieger from 1927, with two manuals and a pedalboard and electro-pneumatic action.
