Evangelical Augsburg church built in 1982-1984 in Hołdunów, designed by Adam Lisik, after the demolition of the old church.
The Church of the Holy Trinity is the church of the Evangelical Augsburg parish in Lędziny, in the Hołdunów district. It was built in 1982-1984 as the second Evangelical church in Hołdunów, after the first one was demolished in 1967.
The first Evangelical church in Hołdunów was built at the beginning of the 20th century. In 1947 the Evangelicals handed it over to the Roman Catholic parish, and after mining damage in 1955 it was taken out of use and demolished in 1967. The Evangelical parish then met in a small hall near the parsonage. In the late 1970s it obtained permission for a new church.
The architect Adam Lisik prepared the design in 1981. The foundation stone was blessed on 8 October 1983, and the completed church was consecrated on 12 October 1986.
The church has a floor area of about 600 m² and a single open interior. It is covered by a tall roof made of two parts offset against each other, with windows between them that light the interior. A similar offset can be seen in the plan: a hexagon “cut” in half and pulled apart. The building stands between a road and a cemetery, which according to the designer is meant to stand for life and death. Next to the nave there is a room for mothers with children.
