Katowice
About Church of the Most Holy Trinity in Katowice

A Roman Catholic parish church in Katowice-Kostuchna, consecrated in 1995, whose dedication reflects three former parishes.

The Church of the Most Holy Trinity in Kostuchna is a Roman Catholic parish church on ul. Boya-Żeleńskiego in the southern Katowice district. It is one of the churches built in Katowice in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Where the dedication to the Most Holy Trinity comes from

The dedication is meant to commemorate the original membership of the residents of Kostuchna in three different parishes: in Podlesie, Piotrowice and Murcki. The indulgence feast falls on the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity.

Construction and the authors of the decoration

Bishop Herbert Bednorz had been seeking a new church in Kostuchna since 1977, and the state authorities issued a permit on 30 May 1987. The design was prepared by the architect Marek Purszke, and the construction was led by Jerzy Maniura and Paweł Pryszcz. The interior decoration was designed by Michał Kuczmiński and Zygmunt Brachmański and carried out by Henryk Kopyciok. The stained-glass windows were designed by Zdzisław Chudy and Bolesław Polnar and made in the workshop of Genowefa and Jerzy Natkaniec. The church was consecrated by Bishop Damian Zimoń on 7 October 1995.
