A brick Neo-Gothic parish church from 1888-1891, designed by Paul Jackisch, with a 70-metre tower.
The Church of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus in Mysłowice is a Neo-Gothic brick church built in 1888-1891, with a 70-metre tower. It is a parish church belonging to the Mysłowice deanery of the Archdiocese of Katowice and a building entered in the heritage register.
Building work began in April 1888 to a design by Paul Jackisch. The walls stood several metres above the ground after only three months, and in October 1889 the church was complete in its shell state, without the tower. The whole was finished in 1891. The blessing was performed on 17 September 1891 by the Mysłowice dean, Father Jan Michalski of Lipiny, because Cardinal Georg Kopp could not come. Kopp consecrated the church in 1895.
The church has three naves and a transverse nave, that is a transept, and a 70-metre tower rises above the whole. Since its consecration it has served as the parish church, replacing the church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The church stands on Starokościelna Street, close to the Central Fire Service Museum in Mysłowice and the Three Emperors' Corner.
