A wooden church from the 16th century moved in the 1970s from Kościeliska to Gwoździany, on the Wooden Architecture Trail.
The wooden church in Gwoździany has had an unusual history: it was built in 1576 in another village and in 1976-1978 moved to its present site. Today it is a parish church and a monument entered in the register.
The church originally stood in Kościeliska near Olesno and was dedicated to the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. In Gwoździany it stands on an artificial rise. Its furnishings remained in the former village, in the newer parish church, so the interior is modern.
The building is of log construction, and the tower is of post construction. The tower dates from the 17th or 18th century, is clad with boards and topped with an octagonal, bulbous helm with a lantern. The chancel closes on three sides, with a sacristy in the west. The roof is a gable roof covered with shingles, and above the nave rises a hexagonal turret for the ridge bell. The walls are covered with shingles.
Next to the church stands a bell tower with three bells named Divine Mercy, St Joseph and Mary, cast at the Felczyński bell foundry in Taciszów. The church belongs to the Wooden Architecture Trail of the Silesian Voivodeship. In the neighbourhood lies the palace and park complex in Gwoździany.
