Parish church in Czerwionka fitted out in 1926-1928 in the workers' house of the Dubensko mine.
The Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is a parish church in Czerwionka, a district of Czerwionka-Leszczyny, in the Dębieńsko deanery of the Archdiocese of Katowice. Its history is tied to mining, because the church was fitted out in the former workers' house of the Dubensko mine.
The parish was erected in 1925. In 1926-1928 the workers' house of the Dubensko mine was adapted as a church; in 1926 the Vereinigte Königs- und Laurahütte concern, owner of the mine, had handed it over to the church authorities. The church was meant to be temporary from the start.
In 1978 it was decided to rebuild the chancel to a design by Józef Kołodziejczyk of Chorzów. Since 2010 a new church building has been under construction next to it, to a design by the architect Grzegorz Tkacz.
