About Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Mysłowice-Brzezinka

A church from 1893 in Brzezinka, Mysłowice, designed by Ludwig Schneider and consecrated in 2013.

The Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary stands in the Brzezinka district of Mysłowice. It is a parish church of the Mysłowice deanery of the Archdiocese of Katowice.

Construction

The church was designed by the Katowice architect Ludwig Schneider, and the land for the building was donated by Andrzej Sorek. Work began in the autumn of 1892 and was sped up by a bishop's grant of 5,000 marks. The foundation stone was blessed on 25 October, and the church was blessed on 22 November 1893.

Furnishings and parish

Part of the furnishings and the organ came from the demolished Church of St Mary Magdalene in Chorzów. Cardinal Georg Kopp made the church a parish church on 31 March 1903, and Father Emil Wawreczko then renovated the altar and added two side altars. Archbishop Damian Zimoń consecrated the church on 27 October 2013.
