About War Cemetery in Łazy

A First World War cemetery in Łazy, with the graves of Austrian and German soldiers.

The war cemetery in Łazy is a burial place of Austrian and German soldiers who fell during the First World War. It is in the western part of Łazy, on the Podlesie estate, on Konstytucji 3 Maja Street, next to the parish of St Maximilian Maria Kolbe.

History of the place

The necropolis was created in 1914-1918. Originally it was formed by a group of oval stones of irregular shapes, scattered in the forest. In the 1990s the stones were moved to the southern side of Konstytucji 3 Maja Street and arranged in a circle a few metres in diameter.

Appearance

The main element of the cemetery is a stone obelisk with a plaque in German, which gives the number of the fallen buried here. Information boards have been placed at the entrances to the mound.
