Wooden spa house of 1862 in the Spa Park, in the Swiss style, today home to a café and cultural institutions.
The Spa House (Dom Zdrojowy) is one of the oldest buildings of the former spa resort in Jastrzębie-Zdrój. It was built in 1862 in the Swiss style, with a timber-frame structure, and today stands in the Spa Park in the Zdrój district. It was entered in the heritage register in 1993.
The building was put up by Feliks von Königsdorff. Inside were treatment cabins, and guests could drink brine. There was also a café, a reading room, a dance hall and a casino. For this reason residents called it the "Szwajcarka" (the Swiss Lady) or the "Kasyno" (the Casino) for many years. The heritage register gives timber as the building material.
In the 1990s the building underwent a thorough modernisation. Today, in the former sanatorium building, there is a café and the Municipal Cultural Centre, which shares the premises with the "Niezależni" Jastrzębie Photographic Club and the Society of Friends of the Jastrzębie Land.
