An active Evangelical cemetery from 1870-1871 on the Borsigwerk workers’ estate in Zabrze.
The Evangelical cemetery in Biskupice, a district of Zabrze, was created in 1870-1871 by the Borsigwerk workers' housing estate and is still in use. It is at ul. Joachima Lelewela 14.
It was founded for a preaching station subordinate to the Evangelical parish in Bytom, and the first burial took place in 1871. When the station became independent on 1 October 1886, the cemetery became a parish cemetery. In September 1945 the parish in Biskupice was dissolved and incorporated into the parish in Zabrze, which manages the necropolis to this day.
Buried here is Fr Alfred Paulisch, the first parish priest of the Evangelical-Augsburg parish in Biskupice. A separate section is used for soldiers who fell in the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-1871.
