The Evangelical Augsburg chapel in Jawornik, part of a Catechetical House from the 1980s, since 1994 the church of an independent parish.
The Evangelical chapel in Jawornik is a small church of the Evangelical Augsburg parish in Wisła Jawornik. It was built as part of a Catechetical House, and became an independent parish in 1994.
The first catechetical point in Jawornik was housed in a private home. When the premises were given notice, the parish in Wisła applied on 4 January 1979 to the voivodeship office for permission for its own Catechetical House. Permission was obtained on 17 December 1979, and the plot was bought on 2 May 1980. The design was prepared by engineer Karol Gaś. The foundation stone was blessed on 10 May 1981, and the finished building on 1 May 1983. The money came from contributions by members of the parish in Wisła and from support from abroad.
Besides the chapel it has rooms for conferences and meetings, and camps and summer colonies are held here as well. Since 1 December 1994 the chapel has been the church of the independent Evangelical Augsburg parish in Wisła Jawornik. Services are held regularly every Sunday and on holidays, and in Advent and Lent on weekdays too.
