About Evangelical Church in Cieszyn-Marklowice

Evangelical church in Cieszyn-Marklowice, consecrated in 1987, built on a square plan with a reinforced concrete structure.

The Evangelical Augsburg church in Marklowice, a district of Cieszyn, belongs to the Evangelical Augsburg Parish in Cieszyn. It is a church from the 1980s, built to replace a former parish hall and belfry.

From parish hall to church

The first belfry and parish hall were built in Marklowice in 1903 in the cemetery by the road to Cieszyn. When the old building fell into poor technical condition, it was decided in 1982 to build a new church. The foundation stone was laid on 27 May 1984, the first service in the main hall took place on 26 December 1985, and the consecration followed on 28 June 1987.

Architecture

The church is a two-storey building on a square plan, with a reinforced concrete frame and floors and a pyramidal roof. The worship hall seats 100, and the amphitheatre-style gallery holds a choir of 40 and an organ. A bell moved from the former cemetery chapel is set into the side wall.
