A Lutheran church that grew out of a 19th-century cemetery chapel, rebuilt in 2001 with the tower preserved.
The Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession (Lutheran) in Hażlach belongs to the parish in Cieszyn. It grew out of a cemetery chapel that the faithful had been building since 1872, and it has stood in its present form since 2001.
The Protestants in Hażlach lived in the shadow of persecution after the Habsburgs took over the Duchy of Cieszyn. In 1654 the wooden church was closed and services were held in secret in forest churches. The cemetery chapel was completed in the summer of 1872 and consecrated on 8 September 1873. In 1921-1922 it was rebuilt into a small church for about a hundred people.
In 1990 a plan was drawn up to demolish the old church and build a new one, leaving the tower. The last service in the old church was held on 15 April 2001, demolition began two days later, and the new church was completed on 21 September 2001. It was consecrated by Bishop Paweł Anweiler on 25 August 2002. Earlier, in 1995, new parish rooms designed by Edward Kisiel were consecrated.
The people of Hażlach used to go to services at the Church of Jesus in Cieszyn. Close by also stands the Church of the Saviour in Dębowiec.
