Fire Station in Bytom-Łagiewniki

Prosta 4, Bytom
About Fire Station in Bytom-Łagiewniki

A brick fire station from 1911 in Bytom-Łagiewniki with a wooden observation and training tower and a former bathhouse.

The fire station in Łagiewniki, a district of Bytom, is a red-brick masonry building from 1911. Since 1992 it has been in the register of immovable monuments of the Silesian Voivodeship.

The building and the tower

The fire station was built in the Historicist style. It was fitted with a six-storey wooden observation and training tower on a square plan, covered with a tent roof. In 1912 a public bathhouse was also opened in the building, so it served not only firefighters.

Next door stands a stylistically similar building, the former town hall of the Łagiewniki municipality from 1910, also of red brick, so the two buildings are best viewed together.
