A former bank from 1908 with an extension from 1923, entered in the heritage register, today the seat of a bank and city services.
The building of the former Bank Handlowy at Małachowskiego 3 in Sosnowiec is a historic monument entered in the register under number A/1609/95 since September 1995. It consists of two connected parts, an older and a later one.
The older part was built in 1908 as the seat of a branch of the Warsaw Bank Handlowy, designed by the architect Kugor. Its forms refer to the Italian Renaissance. In 1923 the building was extended with the bank's banking hall, and the work on this extension was directed by Bolesław Żurkowski. The newer part is in the Neoclassical style.
Today the building houses a bank branch, the City Guard and units of the city office. In the 1960s and 1970s the basements were home to the Regional Student Centre “Beanus”, an important place of student culture, where among others the musicians of the later band SBB played. Not far away stands the cathedral basilica.
