A gallery in Milówka showing the carolling customs of the New Year dziady and szlachcice, in the building of a former school.
The Gallery of New Year Dziady and Szlachcice is in Milówka, on the first floor of the Municipal Public Library building, and shows the carolling customs linked to the New Year dziady and szlachcice, that is, groups who went from house to house at the turn of the year.
The gallery operates in a historic wooden building that was formerly a school and then a nursery school. The idea of adapting it arose when the nursery school had to be moved elsewhere. The ground floor was taken by a library opened in 2022, and the gallery on the upper floor was opened in January 2023. Ethnographers helped create it, and the work was supported by EU funds granted by the Beskidy Euroregion.
Close by stands the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the “Stara Chałupa” Museum tells of the region's past life. Next to the gallery is also the synagogue in Milówka.
