Branch of the Museum of Cieszyn Silesia in an 18th-century townhouse, with an exhibition on Morcinek, archaeology and regional crafts.
The Gustaw Morcinek Museum in Skoczów is located at ul. Fabryczna 5, in a historic townhouse from the 18th century. It was opened on 20 December 1986 as a branch of the Museum of Cieszyn Silesia in Cieszyn.
Part of the display is devoted to the writer Gustaw Morcinek and is arranged biographically. There are also archaeological collections from the Stone Age to the early Middle Ages, in part from the collection of the mineralogist and ethnographer Karol Prause. On the first floor are gathered crafts of Cieszyn Silesia, including leatherwork, pottery and jewellery.
The museum co-created two local walking trails: the Morcinek Trail and the Sarkander Trail, and the nearby Jan Sarkander Museum operates under its care. The market square and castle in Skoczów are a few hundred metres from here.
